With City Hall located in the area and downtown just a few blocks away, Main & Fraser is at the very heart of life in Vancouver. The area has changed with the construction of the new Canada Line Rapid Transit Line and the addition of major housing and retail sites at the south end of the Cambie Street Bridge.

At the same time, the area has a real community feel offering numerous neighbourhood restaurants, amenities and entertainment outlets. Its proximity to Vancouver General Hospital also makes it a hub for health-care services and practitioners.

Schools and Recreation

There are 3 public elementary schools in the Cambie Village area; Edith Cavell Elementary, at 500 W. 20th Avenue, Emily Carr at King Edward & Oak St and Simon Fraser Elementary at 100 West 15th Ave. The nearest high schools are Sir Charles Tupper Secondary, at 419 E. 24th Avenue and Eric Hamber at Oak & 33rd Avenue. Several private schools and French language immersion schools are also nearby.

Cambie Village is located just north of one of the city’s largest parks, Queen Elizabeth Park and Nat Bailey Stadium. There are several other parks in close proximity, including Douglas Park and Heather Park. Douglas Park and Hillcrest Community Centre service the Cambie Village area.

Public Transportation

The Main & Fraser district is centrally located in Vancouver and provides a hub of transportation routes. Public transit options include three rapid transit lines nearby (Millenium Line, Expo Line and the Canada Line) as well as several major bus routes offering quick access to downtown and most areas of Vancouver.
